Quantum Systems Unveils PULSE P19: A Hybrid Solution for Drone Defense

Tactical Evolution at ILA Berlin 2026

Quantum Systems has introduced the PULSE P19 multi-role aircraft at the ILA Berlin Air Show, marking a pivot from purely unmanned systems to optionally piloted platforms. The German-manufactured aircraft was presented before Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, signaling its strategic weight for European sovereign defense.

Bridging the MALE Capability Gap

The P19 is designed to address vulnerabilities exposed in current conflicts, specifically the fragility of traditional medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) drones in contested airspace. By offering a platform that can be operated in both crewed and uncrewed configurations, Quantum Systems is targeting mission flexibility that standard UAVs lack.

Key features of the PULSE P19 include:

  • Increased Speed: Outperforming traditional MALE platforms to reduce time-to-target.
  • Counter-UAS Integration: Dedicated hardware for detecting and neutralizing airborne threats.
  • Mosaic UXS Ecosystem: Full integration into a networked, software-defined force for manned-unmanned teaming.

Competitive Cost Profiles

Florian Seibel, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, noted that modern armed forces require capabilities that are faster and more scalable than legacy systems. The P19 aims to maintain lower cost profiles while increasing payload capacity, positioning Quantum Systems as a neo-prime contractor for the autonomous era. The platform is intended for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as direct counter-drone operations.
